How We Work

The client experience behind the work — written to sit alongside what our clients say about it.

People considering working with us usually ask what it's actually like, day to day — not the pitch, the reality of the relationship. This is that answer.

The Idea Behind the Partnership

We think of it as a stag hunt — an old idea about two people who each do better hunting together than hunting alone, but only if both actually show up.

You bring the operational reality: the decisions you've made, the things you've built, the judgment you've earned the hard way — the parts of your work that can't be manufactured or purchased. We bring positioning intelligence: the ability to recognize which parts of that reality are worth putting in front of the right people, and how to say it so it still sounds like you at your sharpest.

Neither side produces the outcome alone. That's not a slogan — it's the actual mechanic of how this works.

How an Engagement Starts

Every relationship begins with a paid diagnostic, not a sales conversation. We map what your content is currently signaling, where the gap is between what you've built and what the market sees, and what the first moves should be. You get a written breakdown, not a pitch deck.

The diagnostic fee funds a 30-day foundation period that starts immediately: your private workspace, your access to us directly, and the early work of learning your voice and your actual audience — not a separate purchase, part of the same investment. By day 30, we both know enough to make a real decision: continue into an ongoing partnership, or stop. Nothing is thrown away either way — what's been built stays yours to pick back up whenever you're ready.

How We Talk To Each Other

Working communication runs through one channel, so nothing gets lost across five inboxes. Formal matters — invoices, agreements — go through email. If something is genuinely urgent and the primary channel isn't reachable, there's a second line for that.

We keep two scheduled response windows every business day, set to your time zone, not ours. We won't message you during hours you've told us are off-limits unless it's a genuine emergency. Constant availability isn't actually compatible with the quality this work requires — a fast, distracted reply and a considered one are different products, and we're building the second.

Sending Us What's Real

You don't need to organize, polish, or pre-filter anything before it reaches us. That's our job, not yours. Send it however it actually arrives in your head:

  • A decision you made, and the reasoning behind it.
  • A client or team interaction that revealed something.
  • A frustration with a pattern you keep seeing in your industry.
  • A story from years back that's still shaping how you operate.
  • A half-formed thought you're not even sure is anything.

All of it is usable. Recognizing what's worth building on is the work we do — not something we're asking you to do for us.

From Raw Material to Published Piece

A signal comes in. We assess it, brief it, and draft it. The draft lands in your private workspace with a notification — you read it, comment inline if something needs to change, and approve it. You publish it (or, on engagements where we handle publishing directly, we do — but never without your say on anything commercially or reputationally sensitive).

Standard turnaround is 24–48 hours from the moment a signal arrives. Reactive pieces, tied to something happening in your industry right now, land same day or within 24 hours. Genuine emergencies — the kind where timing actually matters — turn around in 2–6 hours.

Revisions, plainly

Round one covers anything structural — angle, tone, direction. Round two covers line-level polish. After that, the piece is done. If a draft sits unreviewed past 48 hours, it rolls into the next production cycle rather than holding up everything behind it — the cadence resets, it doesn't stall.

What Comes With Every Piece

Every delivery is more than a post. Alongside the finished content, you get the hook options and the right posting time in your own time zone, and — the part most ghostwriting relationships skip entirely — a plain explanation of why the piece is built the way it is: what it's putting on record about you, who it's actually speaking to, and what to watch for once it's live.

That explanation isn't decoration. Clients who understand the reasoning approve with sharper judgment over time, and start sending us sharper raw material as a result. By month six, most people can read their own content the way we read it. That's the relationship compounding, not just the output.

The Relationship Underneath the Work

A retainer that runs purely on production logic starts to feel transactional within a few months, no matter how good the content is. So we pay attention to the person, not just the pipeline — a launch, an anniversary, a rough stretch, whatever actually comes up — and we say something specific about it. Never with a commercial ask riding along.

We'd genuinely rather send nothing than send something generic. "How's it going?" is worse than silence — it signals a system, not a person paying attention. If we notice something worth mentioning, we mention it. If we don't have anything real to say, we wait until we do.

When Something Actually Needs to Move Fast

Real-time moments get a real-time response — but not everything that feels urgent qualifies. Before anything jumps the queue, three things have to be true: it genuinely expires within hours if it waits, you have a real angle on it — not just a reaction, and it actually strengthens your position with the people you're trying to reach. If all three hold, everything else pauses and it's turned around in 2–6 hours.

This is deliberately limited to a couple of activations a month. That's not a restriction for its own sake — it's what protects the quality of everything else in the queue.

When Life Happens — On Either Side

Short absences — a few days of travel, a heads-down stretch — are handled without any disruption; the queue keeps moving and nothing is asked of you beyond a one-line heads-up. Longer, planned time away gets a minimum of ten days' notice, a clear picture of what's produced in advance and what shifts, and a named, briefed contact for anything genuinely urgent in the meantime.

If something unplanned happens on our side, you hear about it directly, honestly, and quickly — not left to wonder. Billing pauses for any period where nothing is actually being delivered. And if an absence runs longer than two weeks, you're free to walk away without penalty, no questions asked. The relationship doesn't survive on obligation.

The Monthly Conversation

A written review lands in your workspace by the 5th of every month, before you have to ask for it: what the content actually produced, what's working and what isn't, and why, and exactly what changes going into the next month. No spin, no padding — the same honesty that got you here in the first place.

What We Owe Each Other

What We Commit ToWhat We Ask Of You
Draft turnaround in 24–48 hours (your time zone), 2–6 hours for genuine emergencies. Send us raw material consistently. No material in, nothing to work with.
Two response windows every business day, set to your working hours. Review drafts within 48 hours so nothing stalls the next cycle.
A monthly reality report — what worked, what didn't, and why — sent before you have to ask. Specific feedback. "I don't love it" doesn't give us anything to act on.
Total confidentiality over everything you share with us. Honesty about what's actually working, so the direction can adjust on real signal.
A clear, advance-notice plan for any time we're unreachable — you're never left wondering. Use the channels we've set up, rather than splitting feedback across five places.

Why We Say No Sometimes

If we don't think content is the right move for you yet — if the real issue sits somewhere upstream of what a retainer can fix — we say so directly, even when it costs us the engagement. That's not a courtesy. It's the same standard we hold the content itself to: say the true thing, even when the flattering thing would be easier to sell.

It's also, we've found, the thing that actually earns trust that lasts. Anyone can promise results before they've seen your situation. Fewer people will tell you, up front, that you don't need them yet.
